A direct experience of life with the spirit of the Palo Santo tree

How many of you would ever have a chance to visit Ecuador and its unparalleled natural rainforests, to get even just a small glimpse of understanding what it takes to have precious essences such as Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens)? In this very special article arriving right from the heart of the jungle, someone as authentic as our friend Rafael Parducci shares with us something that has been experienced by literally no others.

“My personal experience took place on a family property in a Palo Santo forest of 5700 hectares. I had personal contact with its elements for 24 years. Even today, I am still linked to two of its four different classes of aromatic spirits. Chronologically, this direct contact was between 1981 and 2006. It is not easy to see things where others do not see them, and the difference lies in observing well what is seen.”

Rafael Parducci Vaquero is a green alchemist, utterly devoted to his passion for natural and eco aromas. He has already been interacting with plants for decades and lives immersed in nature, studies the various environments of the Coast, Sierra and Amazonia of Ecuador. Rafael works with aromatic plants and distils essential oils, and most of all, he obtains a thorough understanding of the world of aromatic and medicinal spirits directly from the source, starting with their ancestral use.
