About aromas, scent notes and corresponding vibrations By Dr. Dietrich GümbeL

I believe that everything in creation is vibration. Research in physics and sensory physiology shows that our senses perceive the world through waves and frequencies. We see colours as different frequencies of light, hear sound as vibrations, and even smell through the vibrational properties of scent molecules. From the movement of atoms and molecules to the changing states of water, all matter exists in a constant state of motion. This understanding leads me to view vibration as a fundamental creative force underlying all existence.
Through the work of Hans Cousto, I have come to see a profound relationship between colours and tones. His calculations demonstrate that colours can be translated into audible tones and tones into visible colours through the law of octaves. This inspired the concept of the “rainbow scale,” which connects the seven colours of the rainbow with musical notes, symbolic meanings, and different levels of human existence. In this way, colour, sound, and human consciousness can be understood as expressions of the same vibrational reality.
I apply this vibrational perspective to essential oils and their relationship with the human body. Essential oils derived from roots and woods, leaves and shoots, and flowers, fruits, and seeds each possess distinct vibrational qualities. These groups resonate with different organs and functions within us, supporting grounding, balance, sensory awareness, and higher consciousness. When a person is naturally drawn to a particular aroma, I see this as an indication of resonance between the vibrational qualities of the essence and the needs of the individual.
I further propose that the healing effects of essential oils arise from their vibrational nature. Their volatile molecules carry subtle energies that can influence living systems and promote harmony and well-being. Observations from sound experiments, such as Chladni patterns and water-sound imagery, suggest that vibrations have the power to organise and shape matter. For me, all sensory perception is ultimately the perception of vibration, and transformation itself is a vibrational process—just as water can exist as ice, liquid, or vapour while remaining fundamentally the same substance.
