Citrus industry

The plants of the genus Citrus cross with each other very easily, and this has led to the formation of many hybrid species over time, so much so that most of the Citrus fruits we normally consume are hybrids.

Our lead article in our spring edition last year was coming right from Italy with a whole rage of citruses! Dr Marco Valussi’s extensive 14-page article titled ‘Citrus industry’ gives an in-depth overview of botanical origins and variations of the genus Citrus along with a historical journey on the production methods up to modern-day techniques. You will find superbly summarised aspects of the most well-known citrus oils, and a more detailed look at bergamot, sweet orange, lemon, bitter orange, mandarin, grapefruit and lime through the monographs.

Dr Marco Valussi has been working with medicinal and aromatic plants for 25 years. He teaches, writes and consults about them. He gained his BSc. (Hons.) in Herbal Medicine in London in 1998, before that, he studied the use of essential oils in massage therapy. He is currently the production manager and scientific director of the Company Magnifica Essenza - Benessere dalla Valle di Fiemme, in the heart of the Dolomites in Val di Fiemme in Italy.

We are happy to share with you that we will feature our interview with Marco in our next issue coming out early March! Meanwhile, if you missed his Citrus Industry article from last year, find your copy of AROMATIKA Magazine 2021 Spring 8.1.1. edition.
