Comparing the Effects of Yarrow, Honey and Breast Milk for Healing Nipple Fissure

This review is a rather useful aid to breast-feeding mothers as our all-about-plants columnist dr. Péter Babulka highlights a study that was performed involving one hundred fifty individuals from September 2016 to March 2018. Healing agents studied:

  • Yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.) is a widely used plant in both traditional medicine and modern phytotherapy. One of the main fields of its applications is skin wound healing.

  • Honey has long been documented to have healing properties and plays an essential role in the process of ulcer healing.

  • Also, it is known that the remaining milk on the nipple and spontaneously drying of that is beneficial because the breast milk has both antiseptic and softening properties.

The review is in the Phyto-Aroma news section of Aromatika. You will find details and conclusions of this study, along with other well-researched, evidence-based and educational articles in Aromatika Magazine 2021. 8.3.1. Hope you would enjoy many of the 17 wonderful articles wisely curated in our 116 colourful pages there.
