Throughout its history, humanity has turned to 'secret' and 'mystical' methods to understand the subtle laws of the universe, striving through rational tools to translate this 'subtle' knowledge into the realm of the material world. One such method that reconciles "physics" and "poetry" is essential oils, which represent the pure embodiment of a plant's energy, or in other words, the "subtle" expressed in the "physical."
Essential oils have a growing body of scientific evidence supporting their effectiveness in aromatherapy. Beyond modern research, Ayurveda, an ancient Indian healing system over 4,000 years old, has long recognized the energetic properties of essential oils. Ayurvedic doctors classify oils as "hot" or "cold," "stimulating" or "calming" to balance a person's Prakriti dosha (innate constitution).
Vedic astrology (Jyotish) also incorporates essential oils, linking planetary energies in a natal chart to specific oils that harmonize one's energy. The duality of this world lies in the fact
that the macrocosm (the planets) finds its reflection and correspondence in the microcosm (for example, plants and trees). By identifying one's ascendant or lunar sign, individuals can choose supportive oils for balance. Methods of use include meditation with an aroma diffuser, anchoring positive emotions to an oil, or wearing an aromatherapy necklace.
