Phyto-Aroma news

Our knowledgeable and prolific colleague Dr Péter Babulka picked three excerpts from scientific journals worldwide about essential oils, herbs, and nutrition for our Phyto-Aroma news section.

The first research conducted by an Iranian research team focussed on the Effect of Aromatherapy With Peppermint and Lavender Essential Oils on Fatigue of Cardiac Patients. The year-long study involved all cardiac patients admitted to the coronary care unit (CCU) of Imam Ali Hospital, the largest cardiology center in western Iran, Kermanshah.

The second study gives details on the research of the potential therapeutical use of milk thistle extract for postmenopausal women (12 consecutive months without menstruation up to 60 months) aged 40–60 years, with promising results to improve hot flashes frequency and severity without any considerable side effects.

The third review is on the work of a Malaysian research team that published an article on the Multipurpose Use of Pineapple (Ananas comosus) as a functional food, and interesting data on its volatile compounds too.
