Fighting nature and its foibles has been a main occupation of technology rather than cooperating with it. Speed and short-term gain have become a preoccupation of technology, whereas nature has preponderance for time and the long term. It took many years for distillation to become discovered, improved, and commonplace. The resultant alcohol has been a blessing and curse not by its nature but by its use or abuse. The same can be said for essential oils.
The coronavirus pandemic has brought into sharp focus the possible benefits and potential pitfalls of biotechnology research. In everyday life, nature still rules supreme, and the farmer has a role. Science and technology are not always on the same path. I found this article to be a deep reminder of what we do as farmers, distillers, herbalists, aromatherapists, and healers of plant medicine has a huge significance at this time in the world.
