A lovely essential oil researcher Helen Nagle-Smith from the UK got trained as a Clinical Aromatherapist and Massage Therapist, under Gabriel Mojay, at the The Institute of Traditional Herbal Medicine and Aromatherapy, qualifying in 2006. Today, Helen runs an aromatherapy massage practice in the UK. She is also a teacher at The Well School (an online IFPA accredited school in the UK) and writes aromatherapy CPD courses.
In more recent years, Helen Nagle-Smith realised just how much she enjoyed researching and teaching other aromatherapists about essential oils that they had not traditionally trained with. This resulted in Helen writing the text "Working with unusual oils – an aromatic journey with lesser known essential oils. (Volume 1)" in 2020.
Over the years, Helen has written many articles on different, rarer essential oils for the peer reviewed IJPHA (International Journal of Professional Holistic Aromatherapy) as well as for In Essence (International Federation of Professional Aromatherapy) journal, Aromatherapy Today International Journal and Aromatika Magazine.
In our 2021 Spring edition of Aromatika (8.1.1), we had the pleasure to review Helen’s wonderful first book, and in the 2021 Summer edition (8.2.1.) we published the full article ‘A Homage to Rosalina (Melaleuca ericifolia)’. Needless to say, we highly recommend Helen’s upcoming lecture on "Essential oils - the next generation" to be presented at the Botanica2022. Starting in a short two days from now, we are excited to see many of our readers at the Botanica Conference Series between May 20-22! Check out for more at the botanica2022 website.
