The 2022 Perfume Special edition of Aromatika magazine is now available in the shop. Out of ordinary, and beyond our regular issues, this most unique themed e-journal explores the infinite nature of scent - for all that treasure and pleasure of a fragrant life!
During one of our editorial meetings with Ildikó earlier this year, she called out and said, "What do you think about a Perfume Special edition?" An agreement emerged in seconds. This special edition is the product of hard labour, planning, correspondence and enthusiasm. We must pay tribute to those who supported us and shared their experiences, thoughts and wisdom about the aromatic world of natural perfumery.
We are most grateful for the dedication of our splendid regular contributors who continue to deliver their excellent work to educate our readers, please our senses, and help shift our consciousness of the many ways scents play out in our lives. Tanya Moulding opens Olfactory portals creating experiential landscapes with perfume, Bowen Wei reveals The perfume oracle, Ildiko Berecz takes us on a journey From botanical perfumery to plant alchemy, and Doreen DeSerres DuJardin inspires through her Pure parfumery with true aromatic essences and divine scent.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to feature Saskia Wilson-Brown's (Institute for Art and Olfaction) broad-ranging interview with one of the pioneers of contemporary natural perfume, Mandy Aftel in this issue. Also in our palettes are amazing personal stories and outstanding art of creating beautiful fragrances from Roxana Villa and Suzanne R. Banks, as well a full chapter with the history of using natural fragrant materials as a courtesy of Slobodanka Poštić from her latest book Fragrant Signatures.
